The Lord of the Rings
Interactive Map
For 25 years now, I’ve been a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings. Both movies and books, of course. I’d say I read the books at least once every 2 years - more often when life feels hectic, and I watch the extended editions of the movies at least once a year.
This time through, I was in the middle of Two Towers and I just couldn’t picture the way the timing was lining up with the Nazgul. You have the ones flying over the marshes and scaring Frodo, Sam, and Gollum, then you have them flying to check on what’s happening in Rohan (one flies over just after Pippin looks into the Palantir).
So I used Claude to create this interactive map so I could scroll to any point on the timeline and see where the key players are. Is it 100% accurate?
No. It’s AI.
Gandalf should be at Isengard between leaving Frodo at Bag End and before going back to find him, stopping at the Prancing Pony, then flying off to the watchtower where he’s attacked by the Nazgul…then he goes WAY far north into the Ettenmoors before backtracking to Rivendell…but I digress.
If Tolkien didn’t have it in the timeline in the Appendices, I guess it’s not THAT big of a deal.
I hope you enjoy this artifact!
